Hello, I am Giulia
I work as a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Rome, Italy.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn't in the plan for the long term. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning were part of it. Over time, routines began to settle. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and started shaping something that felt secure.
Why I Built PetalSpringGentle
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or superficial tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Does (And Doesn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Emphasizes family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn’t:
- A tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
